Hi all

From the little I had observed of your interaction during your role playing game last night (would love to have the transcript of the whole session).......you are probably starting to discover that rules are required to be able to engage in a ‘game’. All games must have rules, some explicit, some implicit, some organic, without them roles became meaningless, without reciprocation of roles, your sense of purpose and meaning in own character becomes chaotic and confusing. If roles are not coherent and complement each other, it becomes idiosyncratic and egocentric resulting in the arousal of emotions and familiar psychological patterns to cope with such a discomfort. To note and observe such dynamics may require some distancing to engage in the necessary self reflections to make sense of the phenomena. You may also beginning witness the impact it may have in you between dramatic reality and your ordinary reality, the parallel dynamic between the roles and patterns within emerging in play during the dramatic role playing and the roles you play in your every day world. The boundary is starting to be less rigid than you once thought. You may wish to recall the continuum concept, between on one end ‘Scripted RP where it is very structured through to Improvisational RP where there is minimal structure and the relationship to the idea of balancing between support and challenge.

Maybe this is something we could touch on during supervision on Wednesday. Hang on in there…I won’t leave you high and dry. It has to be experiences before we can make sense of what is it that we had experienced.

Best Wishes

Alex
